‘Refrain from making public statements’: Congress High Command warning amid internal strife

Expressing discontent over the internal strife between the factions of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, the Congress High Command has warned both sides to refrain from making public statements that could damage the reputation of the state government and the party.
The warning comes in the backdrop of public statements from ministers and legislators concerning the posts of Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and KPCC President.
The High Command has reportedly warned that under no circumstances will the party tolerate public statements about internal party matters. The conduct of both factions is unacceptable as such actions tarnish the party and government’s reputation.
Despite previous warnings from the High Command regarding similar issues, several leaders, particularly senior ones, have continued to violate party discipline. There was hope that this would cease, but unnecessary statements have repeatedly been made, harming the government’s image.
To put an immediate stop to this, AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has reportedly sent a warning message to the factions of CM Siddaramaiah and DCM D.K. Shivakumar through Randeep Singh Surjewala, who oversees party affairs in the state.
Warning of Strict Action Without Hesitation:
Anyone wishing to discuss government or party matters must come directly to Delhi and discuss them within the party framework, not issue public statements. If this continues, no matter how senior the individual, strict action will be taken without hesitation, sources said the warning asserted.
