Religious scholar Mittabail Ustad no more

Bantwal: Revered religious scholar, vice president of Samasta Kerala Jamiyyatul Ulema, and director of Karnataka Islamic Academy Kumbra, Shaikhuna Alhaj Abdul Jabbar Musliyar Mittabail Ustad (72), passed away at his residence at Mittabail, B C Road, on Tuesday night January 8th.
Mittabail Ustad was the son of Shaikh K P Siraj Koya, Qazi of Kiltan , Lakshadweep and Marhoomat Bifatima, Kannipura. He was the second of the three children of the couple. He had in-depth knowledge on all aspects of Islam and was a noted spiritual leader for the Muslim community in the twin-districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.
Mittabail Ustad was unwell since sometime and was undergoing treatment, yet he used to attend religious programmes and tours. Since the last 49 years,he was functioning as Mudarris if Mittabail Jumma Masjid and resided in his house at Shantiyangadi near Mittabail.
According to the family, the mortal remains of the Ustad have been kept in the Mittabail mosque, and the funeral will take place on Wednesday. Mr Ustad is survived by his wife, Sakinabi, ten sons and two daughters.
Soon after the news of Mr Ustad’s demise went public, a huge crowd of fans and well-wishers lined up to pay respects to the deceased leader. Minister U T Khader, expressed shock at the sudden demise of the religious scholar and many dignitaries and leaders from various sectors has grieved his death.
