Renovated St. Peter Church to be inaugurated tom

Udupi: The renovated St. Peter Church, Barkur of Udupi diocese will be inaugurated tomorrow (December 15) with a thanksgiving mass at 3.30 pm.
Rev Fr. Philip Aranha, parish priest, said that out of the Rs 2 crore estimated cost for the renovation works of the church, a sum of Rs 50 lakh had been sanctioned by the government in 2017-18. The scope of the renovation work, which initially included roof, flooring and electrical works was expanded later as parishioners had contributed generously.
The renovation work was executed strictly keeping in mind the church’s heritage structure and its distinct Gothic style, he said.
A felicitation programme will be held after the thanksgiving mass n the church ground at 5.30 p.m.
MP Shobha Karandlaje, Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty among others are expected to attend the programme.
