Renowned urologist Dr Venugopal passes away

Udupi: Dr. P Venugopal, renowned urologist and founder of the Department of Urology at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal, passed away on Monday. He was 83 years old.
Dr. Venugopal is the father of Dr. Anand Venugopal who is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Teaching Hospitals MAHE, Manipal.
Dr. Venugopal’s long service to the Department of Urology at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital and his contribution to the department is immense. His knowledge is now spread by urologists working in different parts of the country and abroad, said a communique from Kasturba Medical College.
Prof P Venugopal was born on February 14, 1940 and was an alumnus of CMC Vellore and the founder chairman of Department of Urology KMC, Manipal. He was the past president of USI and a teacher of teachers. He was also serving as Prof Emeritus Kasturba Medical College Hospital Ambedkar Circle Mangaluru.
Dr. Venugopal was the professor and head of the Department of Urology KMC Manipal for over 23 years. He also served as professor emeritus and urology department head at KLE society’s head at Belagavi.
Kasturba Medical College and Hospital offered their condolences to the bereaved family of Dr Venugopal.
