Madanthyar: The Guruvayanakere-Uppinangady State Highway, a vital road connecting Puttur and Belthangady towns, has been in a deplorable state, causing inconvenience to hundreds of daily commuters and numerous vehicles.
Despite its importance, the road had deteriorated severely, with large potholes making travel challenging and unsafe.
In a positive development, repair work on the highway has commenced, bringing much-needed relief to travelers. As part of the first phase, approximately ₹18 lakh has been sanctioned for the project. With the repair work now underway, passengers can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
The poor condition of this road was highlighted in a report published on October 16 in Sudina under the headline, “Every Route Leads to a Pothole Here”. The illustrated report brought the issue to the attention of the authorities. Now, with the monsoon season easing, resurfacing work on the road has started, addressing the long-standing issue of potholes.
