Rescued elephant calf shifted to Sakrebailu camp

Shivamogga: The calf of the elephant which died a day after it was rescued from slush pit at a coffee estate was shifted to the Sakrebailu elephant camp in Shivamogga on Friday evening.
The number of elephant calfs in Sakrebailu elephant camp has risen to four with the addition of this calf. The staffs of Sakrebailu elephant camp are very happy about the entry of the calf to the camp.
This calf was born to the elephant that had accidentally fallen into a slush pit at a coffee estate at Kadagaravalli village in Hassan district on Tuesday, November 27. The jumbo succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, November 28. Following which the forest department officials decided to shift the baby to Sakrebailu elephant camp.
A team of six, including mahouts, jamedar and kavadis went to Yettinahole to escort the calf to the Sakrebailu elephant camp, informed forest department officials.
