Bengaluru: While the fitness challenge is trending the residents of Kurubarahalli, west Bengaluru, have heaved a ragi mudde (ragi ball) challenge at Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and one of his cabinet member.
Angered with supply of worm-infested, substandard ragi at ration shops under the Anna Bhagya scheme, the residents have challenged Kumaraswamy and food and civil supplies minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan to cook ragi mudde utilizing the same ragi and eat it. On Thursday, the residents couriered packets of ragi to the CM and Zameer’s house.
Paramesh, an occupant of Kurubarahalli, said the ragi is of sub-standard quality and is loaded with insected. “One can’t eat food made out of it. We have couriered ragi packages to the CM and the minister with the goal that they understand what we get from the government. If they are ready to eat the food cooked from this ragi, we are ready to eat it too,” he said.
Under the Anna Bhagya scheme, the state government gives 15kg rice and 5kg ragi to each BPL card holder in the state.
In any case, food and civil supplies office officers got twist of the challenge, hurried to the place and assured the residents that better quality ragi would be provided.
