Bengaluru: Resort stay of 43 Congress MLAs from Gujarajat has attracted severe public criticism on social media as they are being kept in luxury amid heavy rainfall and severe flood situation in Gujarat. Social media users poured their anger on the MLAs on social media for their unwillingness to support the victims of floods in their respective constituencies in Gujarat.
The political parties including JD(S) criticised the move of the Congress and resort politics. Speaking on the issue, JDS National President HD Deve Gowda said, Congress MLAs are being kept in resort to retain single seat of the party in the upper house of the parliament. Such political gimmicks can’t be justified and no one should indulge in such activity to fulfil their political agenda.
Meanwhile, Congress party sources said, the MLAs arrived from Gujarat to protect themselves from BJP as it has been pressuring the Congress MLAs either to leave their party or join BJP. Congress alleged in a press conference here in Bengaluru on Sunday that, BJP had offered Rs 15 crore for every single MLA in Gujarat to win next elections to be held for Rajya Sabha seats on August 8.
All India Congress Committee Spokesperson Shakti Singh Gohil paraded all Congress MLAs from Gujarat before media persons on Sunday here at a resort located in outskirts of Bengaluru and alleged BJP National President Amit Shah offered Rs 15 crore to Congress MLAS to join BJP, subsequently, 3 MLAs left the party to support BJP.
Speaking on the next action plan of Gujarat MLAs in Bengaluru, Gohil said, all 43 MLAs will remain in Bengaluru until August 7 and they would be brought to polling station on August 8 to cast their vote to elect Rajya Sabha members who represent Gujarat.
Congress party is reportedly forcing 43 MLAs to remain in the resort to prevent them from leaving the party. All means of communication including cell phones have been taken away from MLAs, sources said.
