Responsible only if fight had taken place inside the House: Speaker on MLA’s brawl

Bengaluru: Speaker of the Assembly Mr K R Ramesh Kumar on Friday, Feb 1 said that he would not interfere in the unsavory episode involving Congress MLAs J N Ganesh and Anand Singh at a resort in the outskirts of the city, recently citing that he would be responsible only if the fight took place inside the House and not at a resort or anywhere outside the House.
Addressing presspersons on the issue he said that his permission was not required for police officers to initiate legal action against MLA Ganesh. also said that he would be informed only in the event of arrest of Ganesh.
Ramesh Kumar further said that the home department would inform him whether Ganesh is in jail or released and the same information would be given to the House.
When questioned with regard to the dissatisfied legislators of Congress, Ramesh Kumar said that he was not aware of such legislators, as no one had approached him yet.
When asked about his foreign tour, he said, “When I want to go abroad, I will go.” He was very much in Karnataka, at his farmhouse, he added.
