Bribery charges proved

Mangaluru: The bribery charges levied against DK district assistant drug controller Ravindra Shah 8 years ago has been proved true, hence the 3rd District and Sessions Court and the Lokayukta Special Court has passed its judgement and sentenced the accused.

Based on credible information that Ravindra shah was taking bribery from a medical owner at a hotel in Thokkottu, the then Mangaluru Lokayukta Inspector Uday M Nayak and staff had conducted a raid. Rs 49,000 in cash was found on the accused which was seized, the accused was arrested and a case was registered. The 3rd District and Sessions Court and the Lokayukta Special Court Judge B Muralidhar Pai investigated the case and reached to the conclusion that the charges have been proved and sentenced the accused on Thursday.

The then lokayukta inspector Dilip Kumar conducted the investigation and submitted the chargesheet. Special public prosecutor K S N Rajesh argued on behalf of the prosecution.

Sentence

Under the Prevention of Corruption Act section 7, I year of normal imprisonment and Rs 20,000 fine, under sec 13 (1) (D) I year of normal imprisonment and Rs 20,000 fine. Failure to pay the fines will attract additional 3 months of incarceration, informed the Judge.
