Bengaluru: All changes made to the electoral rolls without receiving necessary applications from the public or without giving notice to them should be canceled immediately, Siddaramaiah demanded on November 24 in a statement regarding the voter data theft controversy.
Siddaramaiah sought to now what action has been initiated against the invisible hands behind Chilume Educational Cultural & Rural Development Organisation which is embroiled in the voter data theft allegations.
Why there has been no CBI, IT, or ED raid on the organization even after so much time has passed, the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative assembly questioned.
Further Siddaramaiah said “It has been reported in the media that certain Minister’s cheques and letterheads have been found in Chilume Institute’s offices. Then why no case has been filed against the said minister?”
He also alleged that the training for the staff involved in the voter list revision process was given at the BJP’s office in Hongasandra under the leadership of sitting MLA and chief whip of the assembly Satish Reddy. Quoting media reports, he said each staffer engaged in electoral roll revision was paid anywhere between Rs 25,000 to 30,000 per month and demanded an investigation into the source of this money.
Siddaramaiah further alleged that private individuals were appointed BLOs under BBMP instead of appointing Government/Semi-Government employees. “The law says that private persons should not be appointed for any reason,” he said.
“Even though such a massive scandal has taken place, why has no action been taken against the senior officials of BBMP and the officials of the Election Commission?” he asked.
