Noting that the rise in instances of suicide among students pursuing higher education is “alarming”, the Bombay High Court on Tuesday called for immediate measures by authorities.
A division bench of Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Amit Borkar also stated that mental and physical well-being was an integral part of a student.
The high court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by child rights activist Shobha Panchmukh who raised concerns over the increase in suicide among students.
