Subrahmanya: Kukke Shri Subrahmanya temple which is known as the highest income generating temple of the Muzurai department in the state, but the Rs. 180 crore master plan for widening the road here and other associated works, is going at snail’s pace.

Hence, the devotees and visitors going to the Kukke Subrahmanya Kshetra are compelled to travel in an uncomfortable manner. The road between Kumaradhara Hebbagilu and the market is full of potholes, due to which vehicular movement is a challenge in itself.

Delay in approval

The reason for the problem to become serious is due to the delay in getting the approval form the government. Currently the plan is on the tender level. A lot of time is required for this process to be done with, followed by which, the work will begin. The work is expected to begin probably during the next summer.

Huge pot holes have come into existence along the length of Kumaradhara-Kashikatte road. Due to the increase in the intensity of the rain, the number of potholes has also increased. The situation has reached to the limit where only the tar remains to be ripped off. The number of potholes has increased at Kumaradhara Pravesh Dhwara, in front KSS College, the police station and near Kashikatte.

Problem for students too

Though the road leading to the Kshetra  is an important road, the sides have been dug up for drainage without taking prior precaution. It has been more than two years since the mud has been dug up and left unattended. ‘Udayavani’ had published a report on the imperfect drainage facility at the Kshetra and brought the issue to the notice of the related. Due to the present torrential rains, the situation of the road is precarious.

Tender within a month

“The tender process is in progress for four laning the road. It will be done within a month. Later, nothing will come in the way for the commencement of the work as soon as the rain reduces,” informed Shrinivas Gowda, PWD Engineer.
