Udupi: In a shocking incident, robbers managed to carry out a daylight robbery at house located near Ashirward Bar in Udupi on Saturday, August 17.
At around 11:30 am, two masked men managed to gain access into the house of Firdous (38), attacked Fridous and her 80-year-old mother-in-law and looted the gold and other valuables in the house.
Soon after the robbers made off with the valuables, Firdous managed to call her husband and children studying in college. By the time help reached them, both women were lying unconscious having suffered serious injury. The injured women were rushed to Adarsh hospital here and are currently undergoing treatment.
Apparently, when the men attacked the women screamed which alerted the neighbours and other locals and in the melee the robbers managed to flee. Udupi town police visited the crime scene and also visited the women in the hospital.
The police could not obtain much detail as both the women are not in a condition to speak. It is suspected that someone must have maintained a watch over the family and planned the robbery when men were not present in the house.
A complaint in this connection has been filed at Udupi town police station by the family members of Firdous. Circle inspector Manjunath, CPI Padmanabh, forensic experts and canine unit has visited the crime spot and the cops have taken the day light robbery seriously.
