Sydney: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Thursday created a new record by hitting the most number of sixes in ICC T20 World Cup by an Indian cricketer.

This leg was achieved by Rohit in India vs Netherlands match played at Sydney Cricket Ground.

By this, he has surpassed the record of former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.

Rohit also became the second-highest six-hitting batsman in the tournament’s history.

Rohit scored 53 off 39 balls with four boundaries and three sixes.

Rohit surpassed Yuvraj by taking his sixer count to 34, while Yuvraj had hit 33 sixes.

However, the record of West Indies cricket legend Chris Gayle remains untouched as he hit 63 sixes in the tournament, making it as the highest number of sixes by any batsman in tournament history.
