Rotary Hospital in Karkala to get a new block

Karkala: The Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala will get a new out-patient department block in about a year. The foundation stone for the block was laid by Mrs Vasanti R Pai, Trustee Manipal Academy of Higher Education here on Wednesday.
The building will have four floors including ground. The first phase expected to be completed in one year will be of 11,000 square feet and will include; registration, OPD block to be named after Rotarian K Krishna Prabhu, billing section, medical record, pharmacy, lab, emergency room and patient waiting areas. The first floor will be taken up in the second phase and there is the provision for two more floors.
Once functional, it will decongest the existing OPD area of the Hospital. Present on the occasion were; Dr H S Ballal Pro Chancellor, Dr H Vinod Bhat Vice Chancellor, Dr Surendra V Shetty Pro Vice Chancellor, Mangalore Campus, Dr Poornima Baliga B, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr Narayan Sabhahit, Dr Sharath K Rao, Dean KMC, Mr C G Muthana, COO Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, Dr Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, Mrs Bharathi Prabhu (w/o K Krsihna Prabhu), Rtn. Jagadish T A, President Rotary Club Karkala and other dignitaries were present.
“With the new block in place in a year’s time, the patients will find it more convenient in every way and will experience a marked difference in the services being rendered by the hospital thereafter, Dr Kirthinath Ballal, Chief Medical Officer, Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala said.
