Rowdy Lakshman Murder case: 6 arrested, including JDS leader’s daughter

Bengaluru: Six persons including a postgraduate student was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in connection with the rowdy Laxman murder.
The arrested are Lakshman’s girlfriend Varshini (21), Roopesh (25), Devaraj (24), Varun Kumar (24), Madhu Kumar (24) and Alok (21).
It is gathered that the Lakshman was having an affair with Woman JD(S) leader’s daughter, Varshini, a postgraduate in MSc Psychology from London. Both Lakshman and Varshini were residing in the same locality and were involved in financial dealings.
However, he was unaware that Varshini was also the girlfriend of Roopesh, a member of Cat Raj’s gang and she got involved with Lakshman under the instructions of Roopesh. Cat Raj, who wanted to kill Lakshman, approached Varshini and hatched a plan.
On the day murder, Varshini had made a WhatsApp call to Lakshman around 9 AM on Thursday, March 7. After dropping her call Lakshman called Naveen and asked him to arrange a car for him, to which Naveen replied that the car will be sent to him 1 PM. Lakshman asked him to wait for his call and send the car to the location he would share with him, informed sources.
Lakshman, who was travelling in a car, was intercepted by the killers and hacked to death using machetes, Informed sources.
After learning the matter the Mahalakshmi Layout police on receiving credible information regarding the whereabouts of Cat Raj, went to arrest. On seeing the police Cat Raj attacked a police officer and the police had to open fire to prevent his escape, informed sources.
Cat Raj has over 30 cases of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and land grab booked against him.
Following Varshini arrest, her mother said that her daughter has no role in the murder. Her name has been added following political rivalry.
