Rowdy Lakshman Murder case accused shot at, arrested

Bengaluru: Following the arrest of rowdy Raj alias Cat Raj, rowdy Hemanth alias Hemi and six other accused the Central Crime Branch sleuths on Wednesday, March 13 shot at rowdy Akash in Uttarahalli and arrested him.
The arrested is Akash alias Malerai (24) is a resident of Soldevanahalli.
Akash who was one amongst 6 member gang that hacked Lakshman to death, was absconding since the murder of Lakshman Kumar, informed sources.
The police on receiving the information of Akash’s whereabouts formed a team of CCB, led by Inspector Murugendraiah and headed to Poornaprajna Nagar in Uttarahalli where Akash was seen. When the cops reached the spot, Head Constable Arun went to arrest Akash but the Akash sprayed pepper spray on the police officer’s face and attacked him in a bid to escape. Meanwhile, Murugendraiah shot him in the leg to neutralise him.
Both Arun and Akash were rushed to a hospital after which Akash was taken into custody.
So far the police have arrested nine people in this case, informed sources.
Lakshman was having an affair with Varshini, a postgraduate in MSc Psychology from London. Both Lakshman and Varshini were residing in the same locality and were involved in financial dealings.
However, he was unaware that Varshini was also the girlfriend of Roopesh, a member of Cat Raj’s gang and she got involved with Lakshman under the instructions of Roopesh. Cat Raj, who wanted to kill Lakshman, approached Varshini and hatched a plan to murder Lakshman.
