RPF catches mobile thieves

Ratnagiri: Railway police force of Konkan Railway has helped recover a mobile phone that was stolen from one of the passengers from Ratnagiri railway station on April 25.

Passenger Jaisingh Pancham, had connected his mobile for charging at mobile charging point at Ratnagiri station. Two strangers approached him and enquired about trains going towards Mumbai. When he checked on his mobile sometime later, it was missing.

Jaisingh filed a complaint with RPF Sub Inspector at Ratnagiri station who immediately got to work. They examined the CCTV footage and found the two people who had approached Pancham earlier. While one engaged him in conversation, the other person stole the mobile phone and stealthily vanished.

RPF staff searched the station and adjoining area and found one of them in front of Giriratna Hotel and the other loitering on the platform.

The apprehended were brought in to the RPF office where one of them (Shyam) confessed to the theft and produced the stolen mobile phone. The suspects were handed over to city police where their case will be charged under section 379 of IPC.

Konkan Railway was extremely helpful in securing and returning valuable articles and lost belongings to rightful owners.
