Rs 1.51 crore fine collected over mask rule violations in DK, Udupi

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administration has collected Rs 1.51 crore as a penalty from people found not wearing a face mask in violation of COVID-19 guidelines issued by the state government, since March last year.

Violation of the rule attracts a fine of Rs 250 under the limits of corporations and town municipalities, Rs 100 under the limits of local bodies.

In Dakshina Kannada 82,384 cases of face mask rule violation were recorded and Rs 1,00,16,717 have been collected as a penalty.

In Udupi, 45,667 cases were booked and  Rs 51,72,220 have been collected as a penalty.
