Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday announced Rs 1 lakh compensation to the families of persons who died of COVID-19.

Speaking to reporters he said that the families of COVID-19 deceased are suffering. Therefore, we have decided to provide a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to BPL families.

The chief minister said that the compensation will be given after one adult member in a BPL family dies of COVID-19.

“The financial situation of the State is better than any other State in the country. The compensation package will cost around Rs 250-300 crores. Some 25,000 BPL families have already had a member succumb to COVID-19,” Yediyurappa said.
