Mangaluru: “Several houses collapsed and many are on the verge of collapsing. We have identified a few places for the victims to shift in. A special package will also be given for the occupants by providing houses. “Rs 1 lakh compensation will be given for those who lost their house due to sea erosion. Also, rent of Rs 10,000 will be given to the victims to stay in rented house till new houses are constructed,” said U T Khader speaking to the media here on Saturday, June 15.
“Revenue minister R V Deshpande will visit Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on June 18 to conduct review meetings on the measures to be taken for floods this monsoon. During the review meeting, issues pertaining to property card and conversion will also be discussed. A detailed report of technical problems of sea erosion, property card, and conversion was submitted before. Based on that, review meeting will be held on June 18,” he informed.
Rajiv Gandhi University zonal office in district.
“The government has taken up the decision to start Rajiv Gandhi University zonal office in district. For the same, five acres of land attached to Mangalore University have been asked. Most of the medical science and paramedical courses are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University and students had to move to Bengaluru for their exams. Hence, a zonal office in Mangaluru is in need to curb the constraints of students.
Electrical car parking and charging
“The state government is also coming up with a policy for electrical car parking and charging. Electric cars are environment-friendly. Many electric cars and autos are coming up and companies are also designing the same. So we need to prioritise electric vehicles so that the state government will introduce a policy for electric car parking and charging,” said Mr Khader.
