Rs 2.98 crore cash seized near Tumakuru

Tumkur: The Election Commission’s authorities and police officials  have seized over Rs 2.98 crore unaccounted money from a private bus, amid routine checks in perspective of the upcoming elections.

The money, generally in denominations of Rs 2000 and Rs 500 were seized from the bus,  belonging to Gajanana Motor Transport on Tuesday at Jas Tollgate.

Following up on a tip-off, the police directed the raid and grabbed the money. Locale Superintendent of Police Dr Divya Gopinath stated, ‘Travelers, cleaners and drivers were addressed if the cash had a place with any of them. In any case, nobody approached to advise that cash had belonged to them’. 

The police have been directing further request to discover source of the cash. The case was enlisted at Kyatsandra police headquarters.
