Rs 4.8 crore for new jetty at Ullal Kodi

Mangaluru: A B Ibrahim, Secretary to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Minorities Welfare informed fishermen at Ullal Kodi on Friday, February 21, 2020, that a new jetty for their use has been sanctioned.
The work on the construction of the new jetty will start in a few months.
An amount of Rs. 4.8 crore for the 82 metres long and 8-metre high-ramped jetty has already been sanctioned.
An amount of Rs 185 crores for the upgradation of the Hejamadi port has also been sanctioned.
Ibrahim also informed that depending on the number of boats that will be docking there the jetty length could be changed.
Additionally, Ibrahim also spoke on the issue of fishing using fish-attracting lights as many conventional fishermen complained about it with him. Ibrahim assured them by directing Thimpe Gowda, deputy director of Fisheries Department to discuss the issue with senior officers and also notify the government about it.
