Rs 9.8L stolen using employer’s GPay PIN: Karkala Police arrest two accused from Mumbai

Karkala Police arrested two persons in connection with a Rs 9 lakh fraud case involving a stolen Google Pay PIN.
The accused identified as Karthik Shetty (28), a resident of Kukkundoor’s Kuppabettu, and Ratnakar (50), a resident of Tellaru were apprehended from Mumbai’s Dahisar on December 14.
Incident details:
Shashidhar, a 75-year-old resident of Kasaba village had hired Karthik Shetty through Ratnakar of “Elite Care” agency as a home nurse.
The complaint stated that Karthik observed his Google Pay PIN while assisting him with money transfers. Subsequently, he systematically transferred Rs 9.8 lakh from Shashidhar’s account to a Bharat Bank Cooperative Society account using Google Pay.
Acting on the complaint, the Karkala Town Police launched a thorough investigation and successfully traced the accused to Mumbai, where they had gone into hiding.
