Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada police, on Sunday, issued a clarification regarding the rumors of satellite calls being made and blast sounds heard near Kakkinje village in Dharmasthala.

In a statement, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Bhagawan Sonawane said that Dharmasthala police have verified rumours and “No specific information about satellite calls has been confirmed.”

Further, Sonawane said that the blast sounds are related to firecrackers usually used by local residents to scare elephants away.

The Dharmasthala police conducted searches in the Bendral area on Saturday after it came to light that a prohibited satellite phone call was made from Bendralada Bare in Belthangadi on the day before the Mangaluru blast. However, police did not find any clues at the spot.
