Kundapura: Dr. Shravya S Rao, hailing from Kundapur Kumbhashi, has emerged as the second runner-up in Season 20 of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa reality show, aired on Zee Kannada channel.
Balancing her roles as a Paediatrician/Associate Professor at Tumkur Siddaganga Medical College and a passionate musician, Dr. Shravya has demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication.
With a strong foundation in music nurtured by her mother, Dr. Shravya says delved into classical and Carnatic music, later expanding her repertoire under the tutelage of Hindustani music maestro Mahabaleshwar Bhagwat. Her journey in music intertwined seamlessly with her medical education and career pursuits.
Reflecting on her achievement, Dr. Shravya expressed gratitude towards her husband, Dr. Karthik, and the supportive environment provided by the Siddhganga Medical University Management Board. She fondly recalled memorable moments singing alongside renowned artists such as S Janaki, Vani Jairam, Gurukiran, and Rajesh Krishnan.
Dr. Shravya’s accolades extend beyond the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa reality show. In 2006, she clinched the top prize in “Ede Tumbi Haaduvenu,” a program aired on the same channel. Additionally, she secured the first runner-up position in Suvarna Channel’s Idea Star Singer Season 2 in 2009. Moreover, she has participated in over 100 state-level music competitions.
Dr. Shravya holds an MBBS from AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangaluru, and an MD from Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Mandya. She is the daughter of K Srinivas Rao, serving as the Head of Quality and Process at Manipal Technologies Ltd, and Sandhya U, a teacher at Koteshwar Karnataka High School.
