SAC bags 3rd rank in Swacch campus competition

Mangaluru: St Aloysius College(Autonomous), Mangaluru, was ranked third among ‘India’s best-maintained campuses’ under the Swacch campus scheme of Government of India.

Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Prakash Javdekar announced the rankings on October 1 in New Delhi, and certificates were distributed.

At a press meet held here on Wednesday, college principal Rev Dr Praveen Martis, said that the rankings were assessed on the basis of stringent guidelines laid down by the ministry of HRD.

The parameters included cleanliness on campus, green initiatives, environmental protection measures, sufficient toilets (and their maintenance), maintenance of the canteen, hostels, clean drinking water, green audit, energy conservation, waste management system and waste recycling.

More than 4000 colleges had applied of which only 2000 colleges made it to the second round.
