Sale of Ganja; several arrested

Udupi: Many persons have been arrested in connection to possession and asle of ganja.

Manipal

Raghavendra Nayak (23) from 80 Badagabettu was arrested by a police team led by Udupi DCIB Inspector Kiran C on July 5th for selling the narcotic at Shimbra bus stand in Manipal. The police seized 240 grams of weed, mobile phone and hand bags from the accused. A case has been registered at Manipal station police.

Akshay CN (20) from Koppa taluk has been arrested by Udui DCIB police after he was caught sitting in the bus stop at Eshwarnagar in Manipal after having smoked the narcotic.

Malpe

Punit Kumar of Kat Belturu was arrested by Udupi CI C Kiran on the charges of attempting to sell the narcotic near Kannarpadi in Kadekaru village during a raid on Friday July 5th. 305 grams of ganja in the possession of the accused was seized by the police. A case in this connection has been registered with at Malpe police station.

Kaup

Thirthahalli resident Mohammed Shoaib (29) and Malpe resident Sardar Wahid (35) were nabbed with possession of 450 grams of the narcotic along with their Maruti swift car at Chembkallu in Udyavar on Saturday. The accused were scheming to sell the narcotic, inform the police. A case has been registered at Kaup police station.

Herga

Udupi Cybercrime, Economic offences and Narcotic Drugs (CEN) crime police arrested three persons on the charges of having smoked weed on July 6th.

Udupi Mission compound resident Mohammed Anas Ashraf (20) was arrested for smoking ganja in front of a shop in Herga village on the afternoon of July 6th at 12:30 pm. Meanwhile, Tahir Asif (28) of Kemmannina and Abdul Khader (28) of Shirva were arrested in the afternoon of the same day at around 12:15 pm for smoking marijuana at a public place in Herga village.
