Mangaluru: Mangaluru South BJP MLA Vedavyas Kamath on Tuesday requested Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar to sanction Dasara holidays for schools and colleges in the district from September 30 onwards
The holidays are scheduled to begin from October 6.
Speaking to Suresh Kumar in Bengaluru here Vedavyas said that Dasara is celebrated with great fervour in Mangaluru, just like in Mysuru.
“As Navratri rituals commence from September 28 special puja, homa, etc are held at Devi temples. If the leave is granted from September 30, instead of October 6 it will be beneficial to the district people,” he said.
