Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police on Wednesday suspended two policemen, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police of CCB for allegedly leaking crucial information related to the Sandalwood drugs case.
Assistant Commissioner of Police MR Mudhavi and Head Constable Mallikarjuna, who were attached to the women’s protection wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) were suspended after evidence against their misdoing was found during an internal enquiry,
Confirming their suspension, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil said that the duo did not belong to the core investigation team probing the Sandalwood drugs case. During the inquiry, it was found that they were helping associates of the accused by sharing information.
This is not only breach of trust, but also amounts to abuse of power on the part of Mudhavi, a note released by the CCB said.
