Sandalwood producer arrested in cheating case

Police have arrested Sandalwood producer and actor Veerendra Babu for allegedly cheating a Dharwad man and his friends of over Rs 1.8 crore.
The complainant, Basavaraj B Gosal, 53, claimed that Babu and six others — Vijay Niranjan Rao, Ravi Tejas, Shivakumar, Venkatesh, Basavaraju and Govinde Gowda had promised to get them tickets for MLA/MP elections from his political party Rashtriya Janahita Paksha.
As per the complaint, Babu and the other accused were running ANN charitable trust, Karnataka Rakshana Pade and Vnews YouTube channel. Babu had asked Gosal and his friends to invest in RJP by promising party tickets. Believing his words, Gosal and his friends deposited Rs 1.8 crore with them.
While Babu has been arrested by the police the other accused are yet to be arrested
Notably, Babu was arrested in the past too in a cheating case. At that time he had duped investors of their money by starting a chit fund.
