Sarapadi: Cattle smuggling busted

Punjalkatte: Police on Saturday night seized a vehicle illegally transporting cattle for slaughter and selling its meat Biyalpade near Sarpadi.
The accused driver, a Mudipu resident Mohammed Hanif, has been arrested by Bantwal rural police and seized the pickup vehicle used in transporting the cow, bullock and two calves.
Ibrahim from Kannur’s Birpugudde had purchased these cattle without a license from Kottunja Balakrishna Poojary for the purpose of slaughter. Mohammed Hanif was transporting them to Ibrahim.
Ibrahim and Balakrishna Poojary have been charged under the animal violence prevention laws.
SIs Radhakrishna and Sundar and two other personnel Kiran and Chiriran participated in the operation.
