Saritha D’Souza awarded doctorate in Philosophy

Mangaluru: Saritha D’Souza, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) by Mangalore University on its 38th Convocation held here on February 27.

D’Souza had presented her Ph.D thesis on ‘‘Working Conditions, Job Satisfaction and Social Life of Civil Police Constables of Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka; A Sociological Study’, in the month of May 2019. She was successfully guided by Professor (Dr.) Jogan Shankar, Vice-Chancellor, Kuvempu University, Jnana Sahyadri, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga.

Saritha D’Souza is the daughter of Manvel D’Souza and Sevrin D’Souza and wife of Valvin D’Souza, Manager, HDB Financial Service in the city. D’Souza basically hails from Andhagar village of Koppa taluk, Chikmagalur District until her schooling at G.J.C, Koppa. She pursued further studies till Post-Graduation in Police Administration in Dakshina Kannada District.

She enrolled for the Ph.D Program at Post-Graduate Department of Sociology, Mangalagangothri, Konaje, after successfully completing the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and National Eligibility Test for Lectureship in Criminology conducted by University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi. For having the teaching experience for about 12 years in the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, presently heading the department since 2014. Late. Dr. B. Ashoka, former head of the Department was the eminent mentor behind the success of Dr. Saritha D’Souza.
