Sastan: Locals feels the toll heat again
Team Udayavani, Mar 23, 2019, 3:43 AM IST
Kota: Till now all localites within Kota ZP limits were provided exemption from toll fee at Sastan toll plaza but since Friday, toll is being collected from the localites of Vaddarse village coming within the limits of the ZP.
The toll staff argue that the exemption is limited only from Mabukala to Karikallu Katte and since Vaddarse village which lies after Uplady bridge, the residents of the village must pay the toll. Vehicle users are expressing objection to this.
Change in tactic during model code of conduct
Last time, when the model code of conduct was put into effect in the backdrop of the Assembly elections, Navayuga company came forward to collect toll fee from the localites. But when they faced strong opposition, they dropped the idea. Currently, with the model code of conduct again in effect due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the locals do not have the opportunity to hold protests. Also, representatives of the people will not be able to intervene. Hence, the contracting company is using this tactic, allege the locals expressing their anger.
