Satellite phone use at Chamrajnagar forest range; police probe on

Chamrajnagar: Police have begun investigations into the use of a satellite phone in Gopinatham forest range at Male Mahadeshwara Hills here informed district SP Anandkumar.
Following a tip-off from intel agencies on the use of satellite phone in the area, police have upped the surveillance in the region and begun investigation.
The possibility of Naxal activity in the area, which is adjoining Tamil Nadu border is being probed.
While asserting that the satellite phone was used in the region, SP Anandkumar said that it was possible that a foreign tourist might have used a satellite phone.
The Hogenakkal Falls, near the forest range is a popular tourist spot. A foreign tourist might have used the same in this region. The police are investigating the same. Till then Naxal activity in the area cannot be confirmed, he added.
