Mudigere: Police arrested 4 more accused in connection with the murder of a youth from Bantwal named Sawad whose body was found dumped near Devaramane here.
The arrested accused have been identified as Dawood Ameer (25), Abdul Raheez (23), Afridi (23), and Muhammad Irshad (20), all residents of Bantwal.
The arrested were absconding and were arrested on Sunday, police said.
With this, the number of arrests in the case has risen to 6. Police have already arrested 2 persons from Bantwal – Rizwan and Zainullah – in connection with the murder case.
According to preliminary findings by the police, the murder appears to be linked to the illicit trade of narcotics, particularly ganja. A dispute related to the sale of drugs may have ended in the death of Sawad.
Police had said Sawad was killed at Bengre in Padubidri, allegedly by members of the gang he was involved with. The culprits later disposed of the body by discarding it near the famous tourist spot in Devaramane.
