Uppinangady: Cybercriminals continue to develop new strategies to defraud people. In a recent incident, a journalist from Uppinangady lost money from his bank account after answering a phone call.

The journalist received a call early Thursday morning. As soon as he answered, the call was disconnected. Shortly after, he received a message stating that Rs. 161 had been transferred from his bank account linked to the phone number. Due to insufficient funds, an additional amount of Rs. 14,839 could not be debited.

Shortly after he received another call from the same number, but the journalist did not answer.
