Bengaluru: The actual poor state of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, which was touted to be an achievement of the ‘double engine’ BJP governments, was laid bare by the scanty rainfall that poured in the wee hours of Saturday, alleged JDS leader Anitha Kumaraswamy.
In a series of tweets Anitha Kumaraswamy, JD(S) MLA from Ramanagara, shared the images of waterlogged sections of the expressway and wrote, “Due to little rain that poured in the wee hours of the morning, it has turned into a lake and a drain.”
Anitha Kumaraswamy also mentioned a recent theft case and over 80 deaths due to frequent accidents on the highway. “So, what about the security and safety on this highway? Is it enough just to collect toll,” she asked.
She demanded that pending works on the highway, including the service road, be completed before toll collection is resumed. She also urged the government to allow the people who lost their land for the highway’s construction to move freely, stating, “All the people of Ramanagara and Mandya, who have lost their land for this road, should be allowed to move freely.”
