Cuttack: The junior doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital here called off their 10-day-long strike today after the state transferred a senior teacher of the college’s Urology department, college officials said.
The students had alleged that the senior professor used to harass them, and therefore they went on strike, demanding his removal from the college, they said.
“Upon the government’s acceptance of our long-standing demand to transfer the teacher, Datteswar Hota, from here, we decided to call off the strike and resumed our duties from this evening,” the General Secretary of the Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA), Phanindra Kumar Swain, said.
He said other doctors, who had stayed away from work in support of our demand, have also resumed their duties. The state government had yesterday transferred Hota to MKCG Medical College in Berhampur from here, a college official said.
