Schedule for 86th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana announced

Bengaluru: The schedule for the much-awaited 86th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at Haveri has been announced. The state government, on Wednesday, announced its decision to hold a three-day conference on January 6, 7, and 8 next year.

The announcement was made by Minister of Kannada and Culture V Sunil Kumar after obtaining the approval of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Earlier, at a preliminary meeting, chaired by Kannada and Culture and Energy Minister V Sunil Kumar, Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar, and Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Dr. Mahesh Joshi had recommended the dates for the conference.

About 8 to 10 lakh people are expected to attend the literary meet, Sunil Kumar said and added that he will visit Haveri on October 20 to hold discussions about preparations for the event with the district administration and volunteers.

More than 20 sub-committees will be formed as part of the conference. He said that various seminars, book exhibitions, and many activities related to literature are also held.
