Mangaluru: A student of an English medium school who attempted to cheat a Kinnigoli shop owner by handing over a fake currency note was caught and handed over to the police on Monday, April 1 afternoon.

The boy, a resident of Guttakad Kalkere, had allegedly tried to purchase a soap by handing a fake Rs 200 note, which he is said to have bought from Tokyo Bazar Mangaluru.

The shop owner, Ravalnath Mallya raised an alarm as the boy tried to escape after handing him the fake note but was soon caught by other shopkeepers. They later handed him over to the Mulky police.

It is gathered that the boy had brought these toy notes for Rs two and had been trying to use them to buy things from the shops at Kinnigoli market for the last few days.
