Schools reopen but water trouble persists

Mangaluru/Udupi: The 2019-20 educational year began for all schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Wednesday and the children returned back to school after spending their summer vacation. ‘Prarambotsava’ was celebrated in schools to welcome the children back into the schools. The schools were attractively decorated and teachers welcomed the students.
Tanker water supply
A few schools in Mangaluru faced water shortage on the very day of school reopening. The teachers then contacted the corporation and procured water through water tankers. A district level admission campaign with the slogan ‘Our walk toward the school’ was conducted at Kodikal Hr.Pr. School.
In Udupi district, the schools premises, classrooms were cleaned and the supply of drinking water and the restrooms were properly maintained in accordance to the direction of the DDPI.
Schools locked!
Due to the lack of water, several schools closed by afternoon. The schools are facing water problem. The Deputy Commissioner has notified for the proper use of water, informed Sheshashayana K, Udupi DDPI
Udupi ZP president Dinakar Babu visited a few schools and held discussions with the headmaster in connection to the basic facilities. He informed the DDPI to provide water to the schools on necessity basis.
