After a break of almost one-and-a-half years, schools will reopen for Lower Kindergarten (LKG) and Upper Kindergarten (UKG) students from November 8 onwards.

The decision to allow pre-primary schools to conduct physical classes, in those districts and taluks where the Covid-19 positivity rate is below 2% has been taken based on the recommendation by the Technical Advisory Committee for Covid-19.

On Thursday, the department of public instruction issued a circular to the educational institutions listing the guidelines to be followed by them while conducting classes.

Accordingly, physical classes have been allowed for LKG and UKG students can be held on weekdays between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm.

The move has been appreciated by both private schools management associations as well as working parents. Meanwhile, since children in the country are yet to be vaccinated for Covid 19 few parents are reluctant to send their wards to school fearing infection risk.
