Mangaluru: In an exciting news for adventure seekers, scuba diving, in which one gets to experience the unique visuals under deep sea water is likely to be started at Panambur beach.
The Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project has already proposed the plan to start scuba diving activity at Panambur beach and is awaiting clearance from the district administration.
There is immense potential for scuba diving in the seas around Mangaluru including exploration of underwater wreckage of sunken ships. Especially, the ship called ‘MV Ocean Blazing’ lying on the floor around 15 kilometres from Panambur beach.
Additionally, the rich and unique aquatic animals found in the water around Mangaluru can also attract foreign divers for research as well as recreation. Already scuba diving at Kaup beach has been started.
Speaking to Udayavani, Yathish Baikampady, Chief Executive Officer of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project said, “Previous plan to start scuba diving at Panambur beach was shelved for the reason that the seawater in the location selected by us was very opaque causing lack of visibility for scuba diving, especially during December. Now we have selected a different location are waiting for officials approval.”
