Mangaluru: Following a long hiatus due to Covid-19, physical classes resumed in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district from today (Sept 1).
The state government had decided to allow physical classes for students of 9 and 10 grades, and for pre-university college students (equivalent to Classes 11 and 12) in a phased manner, with 50 per cent student strength, from August 23. However, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts were not permitted to resume physical classes at that time because the positivity rate in these districts was above two percent.
As of now physical classes for second PU students began in DK district while in Udupi, class 9-12 students can attend physical classes.
Dakshina Kannada district deputy director of public instruction, Malleswamy informed that a decision on re-opening offline classes for 6-10 standard students will be taken in consultation with the district in-charge minister and an announcement is likely soon.
