The Umngot River in Meghalaya is one of the cleanest rivers in the world, according to a tweet from the Ministry of Jal Shakti on November 16. The Ministry commended the people of Meghalaya for keeping the river clean, and desired that other Indian rivers were as clean.
One of the cleanest rivers in the world. It is in India. River Umngot, 100 Kms from Shillong, in Meghalaya state. It seems as if the boat is in air; water is so clean and transparent. Wish all our rivers were as clean. Hats off to the people of Meghalaya. pic.twitter.com/pvVsSdrGQE

The Dawki River, which is 100 kilometres from Shillong in Meghalaya, drew the attention of netizens who were shocked and delighted to discover about an unpolluted Indian river.
The illustration depicts a boat with five persons on board, including the rower. Since being shared on Tuesday morning, it has received over 19,000 likes and 3,000 retweets.
While some were taken aback by the image, others expressed regret that now that if many people were aware of the Umngot river, they would rush to harm it as well.
