Self immolation bid at Gangolli temple

Kundapur: A 35-year-old man sustained serious burn injuries during a self-immolation bid at Mahamayi Mahasati Temple of Kharvikeri in Gangolli on Thursday, September 17.
The man, Raghavendra Kharvi is admitted to a hospital in Udupi and is said to be in a critical condition.
On Thursday, Kharvi arrived at the temple and in the presence of other devotees poured petrol on himself. A nearby lamp at the temple caused his clothes to catch fire. Few devotees came forward to Kharvi’s rescue also suffered burn injuries.
They along with Kharvi were rushed to a hospital in an ambulance.
Gangolli police registered a case.
