Senior citizen goes missing after having gone to get medicine; presumed drowned

Subrahmanya: In an incident which occurred in Kutkunja village, a senior citizen who had left to Panja to procure some medicine has gone missing. It is suspected that he might have gotten washed away in Pllodi stream and hence a search is being conducted to find him. The missing person is identified as Kudwa Sheshappa Gowda (73), a resident of Kutkunja village in Panja.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mr Gowda informed at his home that he was not feeling well and was going to Panja to get medicine for fever. Although the day turned into evening, Mr Gowda did not turn up hence, his son Harish went in search of him and along the walkway connecting with Panja, he found the barrier of the bridge running across the drain of a field broken. Suspicious of this finding, he approached the locals there and after some searching found one slipper of the missing person floating in the drain.

Soon after receiving the information regarding the missing person, Sullia revenue inspector Shankar M A, police and home guards visited the spot, carried out inspection and gathered information. A generator was procured on Tuesday night to carry out the search operation. If in case the person has fallen into the water, he will be carried away into the river and hence the search was conducted on Wednesday dawn.

Fire brigade and diving experts have arrived to the location and are conducting searches. Sullia tahsildar Kunni Ahmed visited the location on Wednesday afternoon and gathered information.
