Separatist Leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani quits Hurriyat Conference

Jammu: Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference on Monday resigned from the separatist amalgam blaming the “present situation” for the step.

Geelani who has been part of the Hurriyat Conference since 1993 had been appointed as the life-time chairman of his faction in 2003.

In an audio message, he said: “In view of the present situation, I announce to part ways from All Parties Hurriyat Conference. I have informed all the constituents of the Hurriyat about the decision through an official letter.”
